Skin Cancer Surgery
Once a skin cancer has been diagnosed by the lab after a biopsy has been performed, surgery is usually required. For most skin cancers, Dr. Steele-Griffin performs surgery at the Aesthetic and Dermatology Specialty Centre and it is very similar to the way that a biopsy is done. However, when a skin cancer is removed, we want to make sure that there are no skin cancer cells remaining in the skin, so we are careful to remove the entire lesion on all sides (around and below the skin cancer). This procedure often requires stitches and may require some limitation of activities depending on the area involved.
